    CAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines: Important Documents, Dress Code and Everything You Need to Know

    The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata is all set to conduct the Common Entrance Test (CAT) 2024 tomorrow, November 24, 2024. Thousands of aspirants will appear for one of the entrance exams in most competitive management in India. The CAT 2024 exam will be conducted in three shifts across multiple exam centers nationwide. Candidates registered for the exam must carry their CAT 2024 admit card to the exam center, without which entry into the exam hall will not be allowed.

    CAT 2024 Exam Pattern

    Candidates will get three points for each correct answer, while one point will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

    However, non-MCQ questions do not carry negative marking. The Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section has the highest weight, with 24 questions worth 72 points to complete in 40 minutes.

    CAT 2024: exam schedules

    The CAT 2024 exam will take place in three slots:

    • Location 1: 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
    • Slot 2: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
    • Slot 3: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

    CAT 2024: what to take on exam day

    Candidates appearing for CAT 2024 must bring the following items to the exam center:

    1. CAT 2024 Admit Card: Download and print your CAT 2024 admit card from the official website. Entry to the examination center is strictly prohibited without it.
    2. Proof of identity with valid photo: Carry a valid photo ID such as Aadhaar card, driving license, passport or voter ID.
    3. Affidavit of the scribe and medical certificate (if applicable): Applicants requiring assistance must provide a supporting affidavit or medical certificate to validate their need.
    4. Other documents required: Make sure you carry any additional documents specified in the exam instructions.

    CAT 2024: prohibited items

    The following items are prohibited at the exam center:

    • Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices or other electronic gadgets
    • Calculators, wristwatches and pouches containing stationery
    • Bags, shoes and caps
    • Clothing with large pockets or jewelry (bracelets, earrings, rings, etc.)

    Candidates may be asked to remove these items before entering the examination room.

    CAT 2024: Dress code

    Candidates are advised to respect the CAT 2024 dress code:

    • Wear a simple outfit without accessories like jewelry or fancy items.
    • Avoid shoes; opt for sandals or slippers instead.
    • Clothing with large pockets is not permitted.

    CAT 2024: additional guidelines

    • Arrive at the exam center at least one hour before the gate closes.
    • Keep all required documents handy for quick verification.
    • Make your presence known when invited.
    • After the exam, submit your signed admit card to the invigilator.
    • Avoid asking for breaks during the exam unless there is a medical emergency.
