Here is the amount of fine you will have to pay if you miss the Aadhaar update by December

Extension of Aadhaar card update deadline: The Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now become an essential part of our lives. No matter where we go, an Aadhaar card is one of the most important things one should have. It is used in hotels for check-in, used as document proof when purchasing SIM cards and used as proof even if we need to establish a Wi-Fi connection at home. Although it is such an important part of our identity, we often overlook it. Did you know that UIDAI asks you to update your Aadhaar card details at least once every 10 years?

Its updating is not mandatory and it will not become invalid if you fail to do so, but UIDAI invites you to update it as regular updates ensure accurate authentication and better service delivery. This will help the UIDAI maintain up-to-date records. To encourage citizens to update their Aadhaar card details, the UIDAI has extended the deadline for free updates till December 14, 2024, through the ‘myAadhaar’ portal.

You might be thinking, “Has the deadline for a free update been extended?” Isn’t it only supposed to be free? No, in fact, if you do not update your Aadhaar card during this period, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to do so at Aadhaar centers.
